Rossini driver Ralle Rookey nails down provisional pole at Watkins Glen Super Tour – Rossini drivers get 3 of top 4 spots

The final Hoosier Super Tour of the 2017 SCCA season takes place this weekend at Watkins Glen. With back to back weekends with the June Sprints, the Spec Miata field is significantly depleted and only 24 drivers showed up for today’s qualifying session. Early favorites include perennial WG winner Tyler Kicera and local drivers Nick Leverone and Ralle Rookey.

Qualifying session 1 was held in changing conditions. It started off damp and slowly turned pretty wet. All the fast laps were run on Lap 2 before the rain started to fall in earnest. Rossini driver Ralle Rookey started off the weekend in fine form nailing down the provisional pole, with Nick Leverone in 2nd place. Rossini team mates Chris Cuifo and Danny Steyn filled out 3rd and 4th respectively with pro driver Paul Holton in 5th place.

Tomorrows Qualifying session 2 should be dry and the final starting grid is up for grabs. Qualifying takes place at 8:50 am and Race 1 takes place at 1:15pm EST. Follow along at www.scca.com/live
