Carter nails 2nd Spec Miata Majors podium of the year – Four of the Top 10 are powered by Rossini Racing Engines

Michael Carter celebrated his birthday weekend in fine form with a win in Saturdays Spec Miata Majors Race at Homestead Miami Speedway, and then followed it up with a 3rd place finish behind Preston Pardus and Todd Buras in Sunday’s Race 2.

Sunday’s Race 2 started out with Rossini drivers trying to break up the established teams of Buras/Pardus and Clements/Haldeman. For a few laps this worked and then the various teammates found each other on track and the race became a train of 2 car teams following each other. Buras and Pardus were out front followed by CLements and Haldeman, and Steyn and Carter. At some point Clements lost contact and Carter and Steyn moved into 3rd and 4th and started to close the gap each lap, with Haldeman in close contention.

With three laps to go, Steyn put it off in Turn 2, relinquishing 3rd place, and Haldeman got to the bumper of Carter. The final lap was a race to the finish with Pardus eeking out a narrow victory over Buras with Carter in 3rd, Haldeman in 4th, and Steyn in 5th. Elivan Goulart had a solitary run in 6th, Clements came back to finish 7th. Rossini’s Alex Acosta had a really exceptional race, starting in 13th and driving up to finish 8th ahead of teammate Jason Connole who closed his weekend with another top 10 finish in 9th, making FOUR of the TOP NINE running Rossini power.

Jonathan Goring had a tough weekend fighting and ill-handling car and finished 12th with Rossini team mate Spencer Patterson finishing just behind in 13th place, giving us SIX of the TOP 13 finishers! WOW, any way you look at it, this was a great start to the year! Thanks again to all the teams, crew chiefs and drivers who do such a great job in making us look good. We really appreciate everything you do.

Sebring is less than a week away.

Thank you to Angela Marin, Rob Bodle and others for sharing your great images – all of us are very much appreciative.
