Ken Quartuccio Reigns Supreme At New England Triple Header In His Rossini Powered Spec Miata

Rossini driver Ken Quartuccio had a really impressive weekend at New England this past week with 3 wins, 2 second places and one 3rd in 6 races! Here’s his account of his breakthrough weekend!

We have two Rossini engines and put the new one in for this past weekend and figured with the field that was showing up we would use it as a test session and hope for a best of a top 5 finish.

The race weekend was a New England region triple play. Three points races over two days. We run Spec Miata and in New England STL is very popular, so we run that class also for points.

During Qualifying on Saturday morning I put the car on the pole for Spec Miata and second for STL.

In Saturday Saturdays STL race I finished second. IN Saturday’s Spec Miata race I finished third after getting pasted by five cars on the start. That one hurt and I stayed up all night thinking about how it had happened.

I had to figure out how to ensure that didn’t happen again but without blocking as blocking is my pet peeve in Spec Miata.

In the Sunday morning Spec Miata race I started fifth based on lap times from race one, and drove my car to the lead on lap three and led rest of way for my first ever Spec Miata win.

In Sunday’s STL race I started second and took the lead from an RX7 on lap 10 to win that race as well.

In Sunday Afternoon’s third Spec Miata race I started on pole and led all laps to my 2nd Spec Miata win. After the race at tech I was told by the 2nd place finished that he was very impressed with the power I had on the straights, and that a really good thing to hear!!!

In Sunday afternoons STL race I started first and finished second to the RX7.

What a weekend for me. Three first place finishes, two 2nd place finishes and one 3d place too.

I believe I am leading Spec Miata and STL in points for the NER and NARRC championships. Next week we race at my favorite track, Limerock, so I’m pretty excited. I believe that our National Champion, Elivan Goulart will be there with a bunch of customer cars so it will be nice to see how we compare to them.”
