Rossini sweeps 2017 Lime Rock Paddock Crawl – Goring wins ahead of Ralle Rookey and Evan Karl

While many Spec Miata drivers were competing at the June Sprints at Road America, the New England Region of the SCCA was hosting their annual Paddock Crawl divisional race at the “bull ring”, also known as Lime Rock. This short but very challenging track provides exceptional racing, especially in the Spec Miata class.

It was also the first weekend that the 2015 SCCA National Runoffs Champion, Jonathan Goring would come out of “retirement”, dust off his winning car, and race again. And boy did he do it in style.

In a field of some really fast local drivers, Jonathan put his Rossini powered Spec Miata on the pole for both races, with Rossini team mates Evan Karl and Ralle Rookey completing a Rossini sweep of the top 3 qualifying spots. Even better than that, Goring was racing a ’99, Karl an NA 1.8, and Rookey a VVT. To have 3 completely different engines in the top three was pretty sweet.

In Race 1, Jonathan proved to be too much for the field and led from start to finish ahead of his team mates, getting his inaugural win of the 2017 season, finishing ahead of Rookey in 2nd and Karl in 3rd.

In Race 2, the finishing order was the same, Goring holding a 1.4 second lead over Ralle Rookey at the end of 15 laps, and a further 4.5 seconds over Evan Karl, making it a clean sweep for Rossini drivers at the bull ring.

Two Poles, Two Wins, Two Podium Sweeps – all in all a great weekend for our drivers and our engine program.
