October 10th 2011 Congratulations to Adam Molaver who clinched the 2011 SM championship in the NASA Mid Atlantic Region this weekend at VIR raceway. Adam led the series going into the final weekend, and his two 2nd place finishes behind Tyler Cooke were sufficient to lock up the Championship. Adam also set fastest race lap on Sunday. "My season highlight was my race with Alan Olson at Summit in August. We went bumper to bumper, fender to fender for the entire race, swapping the lead every lap. Alan managed the lapped traffic better than I but I managed to make the pass in the last corner of the last lap to get the win. I will always remember this race" said Adam. During the season, Adam won 5 of the 14 races and finished on the podium 12 times. Another great result for Adam and for Rossini Racing Engines who have had quite a year so far winning several Spec Miata Championships.

The 2011 SCCA Spec Miata Runoffs was a race filled with high drama from beginning to end. The track was still damp in areas and wet between the kink and Turn 13 from the mornings rain when the 34 spec Miata's left the false grid. Jim Drago, who had led all the qualifying sessions, led the field through Turns 1 through 7 but was knocked off the track in contact with Steve Gorriaran (2009 Champ). Rossini driver Danny Steyn took the opportunity to jump into the lead but he lost it in the kink in the wet and slipped back to 2nd place at the end of lap 1. Coming into T5 on lap 2 Andrew Charbonneau (2010 Champ) pushed Steyn back into the lead, but the race went FCY due to carnage in the kink. On the restart Steyn was passed by Gorriaran and Elivan Goulart. Over the next 8 laps they had a ding-dong race up front with Steyn and Charbonneau in close contact in 3rd and 4th.
Rossini driver Danny Steyn leads the 2011 SCCA Runoffs in Spec Miata On lap 11 Steyn was knocked off track in contact with Voytek Burdzy. Sammy Valafar came from way back and made a charge to the front. The finishing order was Goulart, Gorriaran, Valafar, Charbonneau, Burdzy and then a trio of Rossini drivers, Chip Van Vurst, Steyn and Alex Bolanos. Van Vurst had the charge of the day driving from last place to finish 6th on track. After tech and protests were complete the final podium was Goulart (2011 Champ), Charbonneau, and Burdzy. Van Vurst, Steyn and Bolanos finished 4th, 5th and 6th respectively. Steyn was also one of only 3 drivers to beat the previous Spec Miata lap record time!

Alex Bolanos and Adam Molaver represented Rossini Racing Engines at the 2011 NASA Championships held at the challenging Mid Ohio track this past weekend. Unfortunately Alex arrived late for the Thursday Qualifier and was given last place. Adam was consistently in the top 6 drivers most of the weekend leading to Fridays Qualifying Race Racing in Chip Van Vurst’s ’99, Alex surprised himself and the field in Friday’s Qualifying, laying down the fastest time to edge out Nate Sparks for the pole. Adam Molaver took the bull by the horns and put his ’99 into 9th place. In Saturdays warm up session, Alex demonstrated his consistency, nailing he pole again. Adam slipped a bit but still pulled down a very respectable 13th place time. Alex's results moved him up to 6th on the grid for Saturday's race. Saturday’s race turned out to be a real challenge. Everyone gridded on the bald Toyos that Mid Ohio likes, but on the out lap the rain started to fall, lightly at first but by mid race it was really coming down. Cars were slipping and sliding around. Alex took his 6th place start and started cautiously, but was unfortunately knocked off in the Carousel and restarted in 15th place. By the end of the race he had moved back up into 5th place, an amazing achievement, getting by all those cars on a one-line wet track!!! Adam had a decent start, but lost a few places falling back to 8th, but made it back up to 7th. Unfortunately he was caught out when Charlie Hayes spun in front of him and he had nowhere to go. Alex retired on lap 7. Here is the video of the incident. Nate Sparks drove a superb race, and despite going into the tire wall, managed to recover and drive his way to the Championship Win. Rossini salutes Nate Sparks and all the drivers who overcome the treacherous conditions to put on one of the best races of the weekend Click here for the 2011 NASA Championships Spec Miata Results Click here to see the SpeedCast TV Race Coverage of the entire race – drag your cursor to 151 minutes to see the Spec Miata Race

July 8th 2011 Rossini powered drivers, Chip Van Vurst and Alex Bolanos netted podium finishes in both races at Daytona this past weekend. On Saturday, in a really deep field of 43 Spec Miata drivers, Alex and Chip started from the back of the field, and were able to drive to the front. And on Sunday in sweltering heat, Alex took home the first place trophy and Chip finished 3rd, and in the process Chip set a new lap record. What makes these results so outstanding is that Chip was driving his '99 Rossini powered SM, and Alex was racing Chips '94 Rossini powered SM. To have two completely different engines at the very front of the filed was a remarkable achievement. Full results from Daytona
